Hello everyone! My husband, child and I are currently on holiday in Sharjah, UAE. This is our third time in the Emirates, we’ve seen a lot, but we haven’t been to the safari park yet.
We decided to make up for it. We bought the tour from our tour operator. An adult ticket costs $75, and a child’s ticket costs $60. The approximate duration of the entire tour is from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The journey from Sharjah to the safari park takes about 45-50 minutes.
The park is huge and divided into four locations:
Asian Village, African Village, Explorer Village and Arabian Desert Safari.
Comfortable air-conditioned buses run between these locations. Although you can walk, the distances are not long, but in the heat, you don’t want to walk any more than necessary. So we opted for the bus…
The most interesting locations are African Village and Explorer Village. They take up most of the time.
If the tour operator’s representatives had been more knowledgeable and interested in the quality of services rather than just making money, they would have told us that, in addition to seeing animals and feeding giraffes, you can watch shows in two different theatres in the park.
We saw part of the show in one of the theatres: it featured trained birds: ducks, large white and colourful parrots, toucans and many other birds.
It was very interesting… We would have watched more, but we had to rush to feed the giraffes. My child was really looking forward to this.
Feeding is strictly timed. Food is purchased separately: carrots cost 10 dirhams and cabbage costs 5 dirhams.
The giraffes are very cute, they take the food neatly from your hand and don’t bite.
You can take your own photos and videos. But there is also a photographer who takes photos by default. If you want, you can buy them, if not, just walk by. The price is 100 dirhams. It’s expensive, very expensive. It’s just one large photo, but in a beautiful album with a hard cover. We bought it as a souvenir.
We didn’t get to see the show in the second theatre because we had to return to the hotel. I wonder what kind of performance the safari park residents would have put on, but the pool there was quite large.
The most interesting thing can be seen in Explorer Village: it is a huge area where various animals live, including dangerous ones such as lions, tigers and rhinos, and we can see them up close, without bars, but from the window of a comfortable bus.
There are many animals. They are all well-groomed, well-fed, and kept in excellent conditions. It’s not like in our zoos, where there are tiny cages with concrete floors, bars, and a terrible unpleasant smell.
African Village is also an interesting place. Here you can see a family of elephants.
There are many other animals and a magnificent bird park.
A huge number of peacocks, different parrots, ducks… There’s everything there… I’ve never seen such birds in my life and don’t know their names. And the chirping there… words cannot describe it, you have to hear it.
Let me remind you that the entire excursion, including travel time, took six hours. In fact, this is not enough time to see everything at a leisurely pace and attend theatre performances.
But what can you do? We saw what we could…
There are many different cafes and restaurants in the safari park. We only bought ice cream there – 15 dirhams for a cone, and my husband had a latte in a small cup for 25 dirhams.
The whole trip was quite expensive, but the memories we made are priceless.
And, of course, I highly recommend visiting the safari park in Dubai.
